SMA 105

The microfiche title can be generated automatically. There are preset fields in the upper right corner such as date, operator name and consecutive number plus an area in the upper left corner for exposing graphic information like a logo. In between is the title area which offers three lines of each 40 characters. Alternatively the area can show two or even only one line of characters with correspondingly larger fonts. It is also possible to import prearranged title information from different databases.

The SMA 105 can generate up to 30 different grid layouts Following are some examples:

• 7 x 14 (24x)
• 5 x 10 (24x)
• 3 x 8 (24x)
• 4 x 4 (42X)
• 12 x 26 (42x)
• 14 x 28 (42x)

The system comes with one grid and one lens as a standard feature. For additional grid formats, different lenses are necessary which are optionally available. A list of all available grids can be provided upon request.

Film processing is done via an on-board processor right after exposure. Plumbing is not required. The whole process takes less than two minutes. While one microfiche is in the processor, the next fiche can be started without any delay. One set of chemistry is good for processing 100 microfiche. Changing the chemistry set can be done in minutes. One film and chemistry kit for the SMA 105 consists of four sets of chemistry and one film cartridge with 60 m film. As a result one film and chemistry kit is sufficant to produce 400 microfiche.

The SMA 105 is the only cost-effective solution on the market for applications where microfiche is the preferred media of choice. It also bridges the gap for applications where the declining volume does not justify the investment for a conventional COM system.
